State Test Requirements

The Illinois State Board of Education requires that a candidate for certification pass three tests:
·          Test of Basic Skills
·          Test of Content Area Knowledge
·          Assessment of Professional Teaching
Passage of the basic skills test is also a requirement for admission into the School of Education.
Passage of the content area knowledge test is also a requirement for approval to student teach. The Assessment of Professional Teaching is required for state certification.
